Yahtzee Takes Aim At Heavy Rain

zero-punctuation-icon.jpg

If talking about video games were actually important, then Yahtzee could be likened to the Hunter S. Thompson of video game criticism: He doesn't give a crap what people think, his tirades are incredibly amusing, and he may or may not be on all sorts of drugs. In fact, with his distinctive fedora and incisive British wit, we can't think of anyone else we'd rather take on a debaucherous odyssey to Vegas.

But now it's time to get down to brass tacks. This week Yahtzee takes on one of the most controversial recent releases: Heavy Rain. And boy, does he have some critical things to say. Like most reviewers, he isn't happy about some of the more banal uses of Quick Time Events, such as shaving your character's face, arranging flowers and so on. But he goes one step further than most reviewers, claiming that this game makes an honest attempt at being a 'Time killing simulator'. He's also not a big fan of the movement controls, which he described as 'shampoo-drinkingly awful'.

But in the end, even Yahtzee has to grudgingly admit that once the action really starts rolling, the game offers some very memorable experiences. It's just too bad that the game takes several hours to find its groove, at which point all but the most devoted players might have already decided to pack it in.
