Wipeout HD Players Report Bugs, Crashes

WipEout_HD_Logo-icon.jpg

Despite being delayed by several months, it seems that Wipeout HD may not have been completely ready for public consumption when it went live last week. Many users immediately began reporting issues of crashing (and not just with the vehicles, mind you). These lock-ups would occur at several points during gameplay, and necessitate a complete re-start of the PS3 console. Our own PS3 expert Kevin Brock reports that his version has experienced these bugs at both the title screen and upon completing a race.

Sony is evidently aware of the issues with Wipeout HD, and Studio Liverpool is hard at work on a fix for the game. In the meantime, the company claims that the lockups are a result of users having too many online friends on PSN. They recommend that users with more than 50 friends disable their online connection before launching Wipeout HD. This fix seems to stop the crashes for a majority of users, but is obviously not a long-term solution, especially for those who want to take the game online against friends.

Does the bugginess of WipEout HD fatally damage the enjoyability of the game? Find out later today when we bring you our full review of WipEout HD, bugs and alll.
