Virgin to host PS3 Oxford street retail launch

Virgin might have fallen out with Sky, but they’re best mates with Sony, and are hosting the UK PS3 launch in their Oxford Street store.

Richard Branson has taken time out of his Sky-bashing schedule to bag the official retail launch of the PS3. Sony’s next-gen console will be making its UK debut at Virgin Megastores on Oxford Street come March 23. Big wigs from both Virgin and Sony Computer Entertainment UK are remaining schtum as to what the launch will involve, but phrases like “best console launch ever” are being bandied about.

If you’re not prepared to stick it out at the official launch on Oxford Street, you’ll be able to clap eyes on the PS3’s glossy bod’ at selected Virgin Megastores branches nationwide. There's no need to pre-order, so get your secretary to cancel all work commitments on March 23 so you can spend time bonding with your new gaming gear.

As for the hardcore and dedicated among us. Its time to fill our flasks, roll out our sleeping mats and naba prime spot on the pavement outside Branson’s Oxford Street boutique.
