In a recent Variety interview with Sony CEO Howard Stringer, the publication more or less confirmed reports that the PS3 will indeed be delayed, and will begin arriving by year's end, in time for the holiday shopping season. This time, the delay is said to be caused by fine-tuning of the chips that are crucial to the success of the console's Blu-ray function.

If PS3 "delivers what everyone thinks it will, the game is up," Stringer said.
