Uncharted 2: Among Thieves First Details
Developers Naughty Dog today announced a follow-up to last year's successful adventure, Drake's Fortune. The game is titled Drake's Fortune 2: Among Thieves and is due out "sometime" later in 2009. We know a few interesting facts about the title so far that we can share with PS3 Informer readers. Among Thieves is based loosely on the mythical travels of Marco Polo. Marco Polo was a semi-fictional Italian adventurer who wrote in the first person about his travels east through India, the Middle East and Asia. His historical account is chalked up as fiction because he recorded many places and species of animal that do not actually show up on the historical record. The use of the Marco Polo mythos for this upcoming game almost certainly means that Uncharted 2 will be set in India, Nepal or China.
The first teaser trailer below shows Drake walking in a snowy environment, perhaps in the Himalayas. The developers have said that this new game changes not only the setting, but some of the core gameplay mechanics. Among Thieves will feature stealth gameplay and a free climbing mechanic similar to what was seen in Assassin's Creed.
