Tracing Hideo Kojima's Cinematic Influences

It's always fun to discover the influences of your favorite writer or director. If you're a fan of Metal Gear Solid, then it'll be no surprise Western cinema has made a huge impression on Hideo Kojima.

Fun factoid: The Guns of Navarone helped spawn Metal Gear and was the basis for the series' “sneaking mission” game concept. Kojima based Snake and Otocon’s real names, David and Hal, after characters from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. And the Octocamo took its inspiration from Predator.
