The Most Pimp Gran Turismo Driving Seat in the World

driving_seat.jpg

When Gran Turismo 5 finally revs its engines this December, how will you be playing the game? If you are rich and/or crazy, you'll probably want something like the driving seat setup pictured below. The VisionRacer VR3 is a polished stainless steel, racing simulator chassis system. It supports a Logitech steering wheel, pedals, gear lever and 5:1 audio system. Used along with PS3 (or PC) and LCD Screen the VR3 becomes a realistic racing simulator (although the seat doesn't rumble or move). A nifty feature allows you to mount your PS3 console snugly behind the display (pictured). A gear shift mount can also be attached to the left or right hand side of the seat, which accommodates the Logitech gear shift peripheral.

All of this racing realism doesn't come cheap. Because it is mostly hand made and in small quantities, the VR3 is out of reach of all but the most fanatical racing enthusiasts. A basic model, which includes the molded bucket seat and pedal stand, currently retails for £760, or approximately $1225 USD. The fully-equipped model, which includes a TV stand and placement for the gear shift peripheral, costs a staggering £1060 or $1700 USD. For that kind of money, I could pick up a slightly rusty old Alfa Romeo on eBay and join the real world club of petrolheads.
