Syphon Filter 5: The Rebirth of a classic?

I have been playing Syphon Filter for PS1 and enjoying the Old Skool gem. I mean, the game literally came out of nowhere and was in my opinion the Splinter Cell of that generation.

Now I keep getting little strains rumors here and there regarding the development of this game and cannot hope more than I am that its true. After going through one again and really getting caught up in that world again, I can' t help but think how much of a success this game could be if given a PS3 outing?

The game was in the same pool if you will as the almighty Metal Gear Solid, maybe not as refined, but still a good stealth/third person/shooter.

Splinter Cell for me screams Syphon Filter.I mean looking at the game, it's almost as though Gabe Logan hit his head and woke up, walked into the Third Echelon Office and was handed a new Identity. The transition from Syphon Filter to Splinter Cell feels as though it was calculated.

The ideas, game play style are quite similar and this got me thinking. Maybe it's time Gabe Logan dusted himself down and regained the silver pedestal that he so rightly deserves. At the moment, Snake is the master and always will be in this area, I mean you only have to club the games from each series together to see which is the best, but Samuel is currently taking up the space that belongs to Gabe.

Headshots, popping lights out, using different outfits as aids were ideas were really spawned from S.F, if anything they were the reason we looked past the strange style if running and offered this game our 'Serious Game Face' as oppose to mocking it.

I think the team behind the first three should re unite and create something magical with the same awe inspiring moments and set pieces. There is honestly room for more Stealth
Games. Syphon Filter would be the perfect addition, to what is already a great series. I think Gabe has the potential to take the silverware away from Sam whilst getting the 'Nod of Acceptance' from the Legend that is Snake.

We can live in hope, but don't be surprised to see Splinter Cell Conviction arriving on PS3 with Syphon Filter creeping up behind it sometime soon!
