Street Art in London Used to Promote Blur

Advertisers have had mixed success using public space to promote video games and hardware. Sony attracted lot of negative press when it used graffiti art to promote its PlayStation Portable back in 2005. On the other hand, Rockstar has had success using public murals to advertise Grand Theft Auto games. Recently Activision decided to try its hand at creating public artwork to help build buzz for its upcoming racer, Blur. With permission of a building owner in London, a team of artists painted this mural to promote the UK release of Blur on May 28th. The design is meant to connect with the clever TV adverts that feature characters from a Mario-kart inspired world wishing they could break out into a more realistic game. We think that the mural looks great, but potential customers might not immediately realize that its purpose is to advertise a video game. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments below.
