SSF4: My Hopefuls

Ryu.jpg

You have all probably heard about the upcoming release of Super Street Fighter 4. The internet seems to be a bag of mixed emotions with some hailing it a welcomed slice of news whilst others are suspicious of the price - whilst being an owner of Street Fighter 4 it will be interesting to see how the two interact. Capcom has said that owners of Street Fighter 4 will be in for a pleasant surprise and I for one cannot wait to see the next step this revitalized title takes.

Seth.jpg

A lot has to be said for character balancing and I think that it's pretty much there. There are a few tweaks that need addressing such as Seth being a beast and the removals of some combos [strong sweep to fireball] and with this they will continue to keep their head and shoulders above the rest. I currently have no real interest in Tekken 6 or Soulcalibur to be honest and it's because I prefer the World of Street Fighter along with it Anti-Button Bash style of play. I am able to fight with finesse throughout any SF Title where as I am crouched in a Gollum style pose trying desperately to get the simplest of combos with Tekken and Soulcalibur to no avail [favs being Law and Mitsurugi when a
move magically occurs]

So far we have been advised of three new characters gracing our HDTV's which are: T Hawk, Deejay and Juri. Now, I am with you - I groaned slightly as well - cool characters but not the best. The menu of available characters as well as the idea of newbie's is a great one and as a result there are a few characters which I think should be considered
for the next chapter of Capcom's Finest.

Kairi - Street Fighter Ex + Alpha

Man this dude was my fave on EX for PS1. Swift with those Ryu and
Ken-esque moves although a little bit more organic. You kind of got the
idea that he had learnt his moves in a grubby back street whilst smoking.
Karai was cool and his Ultra moves we pretty big and the one where he
punched through his opponents body rocked. Karai is a must where
consideration is concerned.

Allen - Street Fighter Ex + Alpha

The redhead with sideburns that he looked to have borrowed from Huggy
Bear. A Good fighter with some serious reach when it came to moves. He
is more in the vein of Gouken when it comes to style although his play
would feel more agile I would have thought. Another possible candidate I
would be happy to pay for.

Evil Ryu - Many a Street Fighter Chapter

For me he is a definite, they seem to want to play on the story line a
little and he was way cooler than the Ryu who resisted the Dark Hado. He
has the Super Dragon Punch and thankfully also has the Raging Demon.
Please Capcom if you are listening, if you are there, give us Evil Ryu.

Dante - Devil May Cry

Potential is the word that springs to mind if they were to consider some
crossovers. The Devil Trigger could be used as well as the different
weapons that he has available. Gauntlets would be the obvious direction to
go but it could work. The story could be how Shadowloo are somehow using
Demonic Powers to control erm, someone which in turn has caused Dante to
get involved with such a carry on.Yes!! - I have adapted the storyline
if a little shoe horned but Dante is in.

Guyver: Dark Hero/Mutronics/Manga Animated Series

A lot of you may not of heard of this cha o but the Manga cartoons are
quite cool. David Hayter the voice of the Legendary Solid Snake plays the
lead character in the film Guyver: Dark Hero and if my memory serves me correctly Arkham Asylums Joker voice man Mark Hamill played the lead in
Mutronics. The films were coated in cheese but the premise was good. The
Manga's in my opinion were brilliant with all the different Aliens and
Guyver's with different agendas. With the moves such as the Mega
Smasher as a possible ultra and the Kung Fu as its hook, this could
work if it was done right.

I would really like to see these characters added to the line up of
possible and hope that they take some inspiration for all areas of Street
Fighter. Who would you like to see added? Maybe they could even consider
looking at other games for possible chaps and chapettes to join Ryu and
Co. Your thoughts on a postcard people!
