Spider-Man 2099 Joins Cast of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
When most people debate about what was the coolest costume Spider-Man ever wore, they usually think of the black symbiote costume he brought home after the Secret Wars. Few remember or even know that the coolest costume is in fact the Spider-Man 2099 costume.
Spider-Man 2099 was designed by the hugely talented Rick Leonardi and the series debuted in 1999. This was way before Batman Beyond even came out and a lot of eerie similarities exist between the two. Flying cars, dystopian future, hunted superheroes... both series had a Blade Runner sort of feel. Unfortunately the Spider-Man 2099 comic book series ended after a few years and fell into obscurity ever since, with only brief appearances in TimeStream 2099 and a run in Exile comics.
So what brings me back down memory lane? This vastly underused character is coming back in the newest Spider-Man game. Yes, Miguel O'Hara will be one of the playable characters in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. Also making appearances are Spider-Man Noir and the Heroic Age Spider-Man.
Spider-Man 2099's only other prior appearances were in Activision's first Spider-Man games for the original PlayStation, the Wii version of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, and the recent Marvel Super Hero Squad game.
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions will hit store shelves in September and I will be the first in line to get it.
