For the casual playstation fan, this may seem insignificant but it's actually far from the truth. At GDC, Sony showed off their PhyreEngine, an engine specifically built for cross-platform development between the PS3 and PC (and also for 360) Games like Flow, Gripshift and DiRT already use the engine and Sony's hoping that other developers will use it as well, so that PS3 owners don't get stuck with inferior ports.
