Sony taking down PlayStation Network in South Korea

A real bummer for gamers in one of the world's most technologically advanced nations.

In a response to South Korea's shut down law, which restricts under 16 year olds from online gaming in a six hour block at night, SONY is taking the PSN store down from June 29th. According to Kotaku, "Online play will still be functional; however, maintenance to comply with the new law will take down the PSN Store. Sony hopes to have the PSN Store back up sometime this year."

Unfortunately for South Korean gamers, PSN games and PS3 DLC will not be available from July, with no confirmed timeline as to when things will be back online.

It's a strange one to us, as not sure why they don't just schedule maintenance to coincide with the block, but if it can happen in South Korea it could just as well happen anywhere. UK, Europe and North America, Canada gamers, enjoy it while you can.
