With another week comes another slew of rumors in regards to the follow-up to the Sony PlayStation 3. The successor to the Sony PS3 has been rumored to be long in development, but Sony has yet to come out and confirm anything in regards to the follow-up console.

What we do now is that Sony is working on a brand new next-generation console, one that will likely interact with their next-generation handled, the Sony PS Vita, which just recently released in Japan, North America, as well as Europe.

The latest rumor to circle in regards to the new next-generation Sony console comes from none other than Kotaku.com.

What the gaming site is reporting is that the new Sony PlayStation may not actually be called the Sony PlayStation Orbis, or just the Sony Orbis.

The idea with the brand new Sony PlayStation Orbis is to start and create a new generation of gamers.

The new next-generation console will reportedly not be backwards compataible with Sony PlayStation 3 games.

On top of that, the game console is also rumored to be following the Microsoft trend is not allowing used games to be played.

From an output perspective in terms of resolution, it is believed that the Sony PlayStation Orbis will output 4096 x 2160 resolution. This would put it way above anything an HDTV is currently capable of.

The new next-generation console is believed to work hand-in-hand with the PlayStation Vita. When Orbis Vita are combined, it translates to "circle of life."

Sony has yet to confirm or deny any of the rumors revealed.
