Sega today announced that Sonic The Hedgehog's first epic 3D quest, Sonic Adventure, is coming next week to the PSN. Originally released way back in 1998, Sonic Adventure sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling title on the doomed Dreamcast console. This Dreamcast classic has been digitally re-mastered with 720p graphics and Dolby Digital Sound so that players can experience it for the first time in HD. The game mechanics and world geometry remain exactly the same, but new high-resolution textures give the game a clean and crisp look. The game is priced at $10 USD, or £ 6.29 / € 7.99 in freaky European currency.

"This week marked the eleventh anniversary of the Dreamcast's arrival" said Haruki Satomi, VP of Digital Business at SEGA of America. "We feel there's no better way to honour that milestone than by providing both new and veteran gamers with the chance to experience Sonic's first thrilling 3D adventure in High Definition."

The game is divided up into 5 stages: Action Stages, Running Stages, Escaping the Hunter, Catch the Power Ring and Adventure Fields. As well as updated graphics, this new and improved version of Sonic Adventure includes trophies and achievements, as well as the popular Chao Garden mini-game.
