Resident Evil 5 Demo Coming to PS3 February 2

We love demos, so Capcom made our day that much brighter when they announced that two playable levels of Resident Evil 5 will be coming to the PSN on February 2. The demo will feature two in-depth levels from the game: Shanty Town and Assembly Place. The publisher promises that with hordes of enemies, two-player co-op action and intensity never seen before in a Resident Evil game, this demo will impress those last few remaining people who doubted that the final game would be awesome. The inclusion of 2-player coop is interesting, and we can't wait to try out this new gameplay mode.

Capcom says that the demo will come equipped with voice chat and the option to play as either Chris Redfield or Sheva Alomar during the two stages. Players who have no friends can also opt to play the levels by themselves, or with an AI-controlled partner instead of a real person. While playing, gamers can also choose between the classic “Resident Evil”-style controls or switch to the newer “Action” controls inspired by current 3D action games.

Of course, Resident Evil games are known for their hordes of infected enemies, and this demo will give us a chance to check out some of the more terrifying foes from the final game. The demo will feature an army of weapon-wielding infected Majini, including the gigantic hooded Majini Executioner and even the dreaded Chainsaw Majini.

Resident Evil 5 is one of our most anticipated games of 2009, so we will be right there to download the demo on February 2. We will be sure to bring you our full impressions here on PS3 Informer.
