PSN Download Charts for September 2009

The Playstation Network hosts a lot of downloadable content, but only one game can claim the top spot. This past month the most popular game on the service was none other than TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled. That is somewhat of a surprise, considering that TMNT isn't a very good game. IGN slammed the updated release in its 5.9 review, saying:

"The beat 'em up genre has been kept alive with outstanding efforts like Castle Crashers on Xbox Live Arcade that build on the foundation TMNT provided, but returning to this archaic example now only points out how much games have improved since 1991. What worked back then doesn't necessarily cut it today."

Ouch. That TMNT was able to grab top spot last month was also surprising because there were better games below it in the charts. Fat Princess and Marvel Vs Capcom 2 are both deserving of gamers' time and money, and will likely remain in the top 10 for many months to come. Final Fantasy VII probably isn't going anywhere, either.
