PS3 Slim Image Leak in May Hushed By Threat of Law Suit

PS3_Controller_angle-t.jpg

Back in May we posted leaked images of the PS3 Slim. But strangely, the guilty party was quick to debunk their own news scoop. The culprits had magically changed their story and insisted the photos were faked in order to promote an eBay auction.

Now that the official announcement of the PS3 Slim has been made, the mystery has finally been solved and we can now reveal why the culprits changed their story.

Having a big announcement ruined 3 months ahead of schedule is any company's public relations nightmare. Thanks to fast reflexes from Taiwan-based attorneys, they were able to quickly send out a cease-and-desist letter to the culprits.

Under threat of law suit, the lawyers had succeeded in scaring the culprits into issuing a retraction against the validity of the leaked images. Seems like the culprits were telling the truth after all, but were forced to cover it up. Score one for the huge corporate PR team. Take that little man. Hope you fanboys learned your lesson about sharing exciting news with the world.

Check out the early leaked images in May. Compare them with PS3 Slim pictures from the official announcement and you'll notice they look exactly alike, down to the power and eject buttons and the placement of the "PS3" logo.

Don't be surprised if the box art stays the same as well.
