PS3 Slim Coming Soon!

Update: the rumors turned out to be true! You can read the full scoop with details about the PS3 Slim here.

Holy chunk-oly PS3! We think it's time you lose some of those curves and "slim" down! Sure, your voluptuous body has sex appeal, but it pales in comparison to that white, hourglass-figure, skinny old XBOX 360. PS3, your previous generations began oversized like Kristie Alley in "Fat Actress", but eventually they lost their size and were released in a sleeker design.

In 1994, the PS1 was introduced to the gaming community. In Y2K (year 2000), the PS1 received a surprisingly slender and complete redesign considering the same year it's successor was released, the PS2. in time, the PS2 shed its size like the first model and was redesigned in 2004 while maintaining its rectangle appeal. The latter years of 2004, trickling into 2005 the PSP was introduced! The following year (2006 incase you lost track) the powerful, most popular Blu-Ray player PS3 was released. Two years from this point, the PSP received the Jenny Craig treatment with a slimmer redesign, not to mention colorful choices. Eat your heart out Nintendo DS!

To help the PS3 lose some of its size, the PS3 could ditch the media card slot option. Who actually uses these media readers? Let us know in the boards. Also, if the PS3 sacrificed its curvy figure it may present the optical illusion of a thinner model. So when will the PS3 stop fooling itself that Richard Simons actually works, hop onto the manufacturing line, and reintroduce itself as an Extreme Makeover participant in a slimmer, even sexier design?

Soon! The time is coming, the PS3 will receive a slimline makeover like it's predecessors. History reveals Sony's PlayStation franchise releases each platform in two version. The first version is the "fat" version while the second is a sleeker, slimmer build. This data also shows each redesign is released relative to its successor. So what's your vision for the PS3 Slim? What do you think it would look like? Actually, nevermind. It looks a little something like this:

i think yes because the 4nm processor came out, so the end of 2009 will be good for a PS3 slim. i must buy it. :x
it will work with ssd's rather than memory cards. LOL, the same, but ssd have more power than memory cards also than harddisk

Hopefully new version will suck less energy too. 300some watts for a console is both literally and figuratively uncool.

They wont get rid of the multi-media card slots since the PS3 is supposed to do more then video games.

@Sebimeyer, they wont put in Solid state drives because for a 30gb one it can cost you anywhere from 100-150, where there are now 1.5tb hard drives out for 129.

we definitely won't see the slim ps3 this year. i'm thinking we'll see a price cut this fall to weed out the inventory and we'll get the slims next year. it still feels a little early in the cycle for slims. oh and i use my card readers! they come in real handy. i've got my whole music collection on my ps3. i just pop the mem stick in, copy a couple albums, pop it in my psp and i'm ready to go. i'm one of the 3 people in the US that DOESN'T have an ipod or variant. great for pics/vids too if you have a sony camera. it's very convenient that it's built right in.

I hope that Sony is going to increase the ram and gpu memory a little in this new version. That would be great.
