It's tradition that every year, on Black Friday, I do the American thing and stay home on Black Friday, play video games and watch the news to hear about how people got trampled while trying to snag a $29 DVD player at Walmart. The Bit Bag is reporting that they're seeing a lot of PS3s still in stock. (as opposed to none for wii and a few for 360) This can mean two things:
a) PS3s aren't selling
2) Sony is keeping stores well stocked
$) They are lying
I'm leaning towards item 2 right now due to this statement from Sony:
Today, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) announced that overall PlayStation brand unit sales during the week including Black Friday increased by 178%, sales dollars increased by 154%.
Below are the sales figures for each PlayStation platform for the week including Black Friday for the top 10 retailers in North America:
"PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) hardware sales increased by 245% when compared to Black Friday sales last year."
Granted the PS3 just launched last year, so it's not a whole lot to brag about. The PS3 sold, if my numbers are correct, about 150,000 last Black Friday. Which brings the number close to 400,000 sold last week. Not to shabby for something that doesn't have any games, right? I kid, I kid. Still, I'd prefer to wait for sales numbers before jumping to conclusions.
