PS2 outsells Xbox 360 in May, continues strong sales

According to sales estimates from the NPD Group, Sony's PlayStation 2 console outsold Microsoft's Xbox 360 in May, continuing a year of strong sales for the console. Since the release of the 360 last November, the PS2 has sold an average of more than 470,000 units per month, while Microsoft's next-gen system has averaged just under 250,000 upm. While early shortages of the 360 are partly to blame for the great difference, Microsoft's supply problems are seemingly over and May's estimates only help to bolster Sony's market saturation leading up to the launch of the PS3.
