My OCD : How I am enjoying collecting old classics

Pstation1.jpg

Games - I love them and this is no secret. My Girlfriend has a few that she loves, my Brothers love them, all my friends and colleagues love them, they are ACE. Now I have been really been well, blown away by the brilliance of the games the PS3 has been hit with. I have played my PS3 more now than ever before, the most since the launch of my mighty 60GB.

Now I do enjoy a retro session. After trawling eBay what started as a £15.00 spree swiftly turned into £60.00. The thing that caused this was the fact that I was still high on Nandos as those Double Chicken Burgers with Cheese and Pineapple are just superb.

Now after collating the games that I have missing from my collection I discovered how much we need devs to look back and make use of some of their brilliant history that could
well benefit from a future.

I have used the games that I actually bought to highlight my points, with some already having upcoming titles to add to their given series. However it's something I would like to visit all the same.

So the list of collectables as such is as follows:

Max Payne 1 & 2
Okami
Hulk : Ultimate Destruction
Red Dead Revolver
The Suffering 2 : Ties That Bind
Splinter Cell Double Agent [PS2]
Gran Turismo 1 & 2
Syphon Filter 1,2 & 3
Dino Crisis
Fahrenheit

Having blitzed through them it's great to see where we were and the direction we are going in with games. I mean Max Payne is going to be going out with a Bang sometime soon as R* are beavering away at the next installment.

Okami is simply like nothing else I have played, enchanting would be the word I am looking for.

Hulk : Ultimate Destruction, well it does what it says on the erm, box, and does it bloody well, when I say well I mean excellent. It feels weighty and strong and you really get in the zone it's bags of fun!

Red Dead Revolver, again is R* flexing their creative muscles and shows they are much more than a One Trick Pony!

The Suffering is for me CRYING OUT for a remake and if we get chance we should create a huge petition and get this idea moving. Cracking game, great premise and plays very well indeed.

Splinter Cell, well I could have got it for PS3 but I wanted a retro experience, also I wanted it to match the Splinter Cells I already own which are all PS2 Titles so there!

Ahh, GT1 and 2, those were the days eh? playing them now just makes you say 'Whoa' obviously not to the levels of what we will be playing in September 2010 [I hear] but, it's still a great little blast flying round those old skool courses with those old skool tunes. Memories, great ones at that!

Dino Crisis - Yeah, Resident Evil with Dinosaurs, still I really enjoyed the first time round and think it's still a great game. It had its day when Dinosaurs were all the rage. I don't think a HD remake would be well received, but as a look down memory lane it's a great view to behold.

Fahrenheit was for me a 'no brainer' as Heavy Rain was brilliant. A game I thoroughly enjoyed, in the same way you come away from a Sunday Roast with complete satisfaction - it was that good.

It was a great experience and caused me to buy Fahrenheit. QD - if you are reading ladies and gentlemen, this game needs a HD Remake as its truly brilliant and should be given a new lease of life, a chance to reach people who missed it the first time around.

It's a great game which really as a 'choice tiered sort' of game, stands up to game today, I mean its only the Graphics that give away the date of the game. This is a fine piece of
gaming 'creation' and should be revered as one of the PS2 great games along with the more known icons!

Last but certainly not least, the almighty Syphon Filter. This was brilliant. Great and if the murmurs were are hearing here and there are true, Syphon Filter 5 could and should be coming! I'll never forget my first head shot or my first light shot to be honest, awesome games in their day and lead me onward, towards my next topic.......
