Mass Effect, Left 4 Dead, Crackdown 2 Coming to PS3?

Some good news for Sony gamers this week, as rumors suggest that a number of top-selling franchises will be going multiplatform. The speculation began when fans in Russia noticed a listing on the EA website for two previously exclusive Xbox 360 games on the PS3. Those games are Mass Effect 2 and Left 4 Dead 2. The possibility of BioWare's space opera going multiplatform is not much of a surprise. The company is not funded by Microsoft and there have been numerous hints that the franchise (and not just the second game) would be making its way to Sony's console at some point.

Left 4 Dead 2 would actually be a surprise. The developer Valve has repeatedly and publicly slammed the PS3 hardware stating that they are not interested in working on the console. But a listing on EA's website suggests that the company could have another team working on a port. Electronic Arts previously ported another of Valve's projects - The Orange Box - to PS3 with reasonable success.

Look folks, there is money to be made by third-party devs, and any project that doesn't go multiplatform is simply leaving money on the table. With Sony's PS3 picking up steam, we fully expect every previous Microsoft exclusive that is not owned by Microsoft to jump ship to the Sony camp. And yes, that means we can expect a Crackdown 2 announcement soon.

EA Russia has denied the claims that it is working on these multiplatform releases, saying that the posting was made 'in error'.
