London Pub Comes to Home

guiness_logo.jpg

Users of Playstation Home will have a new personal space to try out, beginning today. A company called Veemee is offering the download for €4.99, which gives players a whole new space along with some interesting activities. Based on your favorite London watering hole, situated on the banks of the river Thames overlooking The Houses of Parliament, The London Pub personal space comes complete with a multiplayer darts game, a roaring open fire, comedy beer pumps, crank phone calls and hand dryers that don't dry your hands (they're only virtual you know).

While the pub actually looks pretty cool, we can just see the headlines now: "video game promotes drinking among children". The company was quick to distance itself from any potential criticism, telling gamers to "be responsible" whatever that means:

"It's always nice to inject a bit of humour into the games industry. In a virtual pub you can get all the banter but obviously none of the booze. In The London Pub in Home we always encourage people to 'Think Responsibly'!"

Of course, they're much less anal retentive about under-aged drinking in Europe, but we're not sure how this idea might work in North America.

To celebrate the launch of The London Pub, Veemee has also decided to give away 30 real Eclipse Pro Dartboards in the first 30 days to anyone who plays the multiplayer darts game in the virtual pub and tops the pub darts leader board in PlayStation Home. So, get to it if you want a chance to win.

But, you know, do it responsibly.

The London Pub space allows players to drunkenly flail their arms around while holding pointy metal objects.
