LittleBigPlanet Moderation System Updated

little-big-icon.jpg

Many players (and potential players) of Media Molecule's creative platformer LittleBigPlanet were put off by heavy-handed moderation that saw many great levels deleted from existence. As we reported in our (rather long winded) diatribe against digital censorship, the moderation system in place was utter crap. Luckily, the folks at Sony and Media Molecule have listened to fan complaints and released a patch to improve the broken level moderation system.

Actually, there have been two recent fixes added: updates 1.06 and 1.07 for LitleBigPlanet arrived almost simultaneously in North America today and yesterday.

Update 1.06 includes some new level moderation rules, such as the ability for unpublished levels to be edited by their creators rather than disappearing forever. Importantly, level creators will now receive an actual explanation helping them to understand why their levels were removed from circulation. Players can fix the problems with their levels and re-submit them for inclusion in the online portion of the game.

Update 1.07 provides a more streamlined system for searching through user-created levels, as well as an in-game store. When browsing through the new store, the system will automatically add the free updates to your shopping cart, which is pretty considerate.

If you haven't yet checked out LittleBigPlanet and you are wondering what all the fuss is about, now might be a good time to take the plunge.
