Is Replika the First 3D Stereoscopic PSN Game?

We all know that 3D TV is coming, and that Sony is leading the charge with planned firmware updates to its Playstation 3 console. While older games will be able to take advantage of 3D displays,it is the newer, native 3D games that will push the envelope even further. Video game makers are already beginning to imagine ways to incorporate 3D effects into their upcoming products, whether simply as eye candy or as a way to expand the gameplay experience. A newly announced downloadable title might be the first PSN release to boast native 3D graphics support.

Replika is described as an action/strategy hybrid cyberpunk adventure featuring a female in the leading role. Very little is known about the title other than that short blurb. It so far has no solid release date, screenshots or features list. The Portuguese developer, Biodroid, has a short list of game credits to its name, but their previous projects are not encouraging. They have so far made a handful of Wii children's titles as well as a Nintendo DS dating sim called Pink Diary. Replika will be the company's first PS3 project.

Despite the short list of game credits and the company's casual focus, we remain optimistic for Replika. It sounds like an ambitious project, and will surely be one of the first PSN games to incorporate native 3D if it does successfully make it to release.
