Heavy Rain: What I Have Played So Far....

RikNewGames3[1].jpg

Heavy Rain is a very mature and different take on the modern gaming experience. Having played Fahrenheit and being totally impressed, I was really looking forward to Heavy Rain. It's very much like a really good book: It keeps you wanting to know more.

The controls are something that add to the experience, making you concentrate and really focus on what you are doing and the choices you are making. When I say this I mean, for example I can play Street Fighter 4 with me in one room and the control pad in another. It's that easy to get to grips with and master. Whereas with Heavy Rain, you are continually watching the screen looking for prompts, checking out your given characters thoughts, searching out for things to do in each area whilst absorbing the storyline.

The way the game offers you a tiny portion of tale, then switches you to a different character. You find yourself saying - 'oh yes, what happens next with her after........?'. Its really well thought out and it shows in the delivery. Each segment unfolds just at the right pace with some really innovative little touches. I mean the office upgrade in the police station is a much advanced 'Minority Report' style use of an office tool if you will. They have been inspired by others here, but its how they have translated that inspiration that impresses me the most.

I have yet to complete Heavy Rain and I am juggling this while chasing further trophies on Assassins Creed 2, warming up for God of War 3 by playing the faded but well attempted carbon copy, Dante's Inferno.

Dante's Inferno has a good storyline - so I will being offering a different perspective reviewing this title in the future. I am sure there are many of you out there enjoying this game.

I did want to know how many of you have found yourselves being joined by your other half whilst playing through this though. I think as games go, this is one of the best to spectate. Watch this space for my views on this game, coming soon.
