GT5 Time Trial: Demo Review

gt5box[1].jpg

Everyone knows that the daddy of all racing sims is Gran Turismo and if they didn't know that already, then the demo should set them straight. While we patiently wait for the game to arrive, we've got a demo to play around with. If this short demonstration is anything to go by, then we are in for a real treat.

First of all the visuals. The graphics on offer with Gran Turismo 5 are yet to be matched, with such attention to detail. It's astonishing!. I have always pictured the developers as monks, secluded in their mountain hideaway, patiently extracting every last bit of performance from the PS3. the problem is that they do tend to hold on for as long as they can before releasing their creations into the big bad world. I mean if any game as a
lot of expectation behind it with a budget to match, it's GT5.

The demo allows players to take the wheel of Nissan's pocket rocket, the 350Z. It is a little scamp of a car and you will take a few laps to find its sweet spot, but once you do the car becomes forgiving whilst still a challenge to drive. The level is just enough to let you know that what is coming is going to be amazing. To offer an example, think of wandering into the kitchen on a Sunday afternoon whilst your mum is cooking a
wholesome Sunday lunch. You're starving so you reach for the ham to receive a slap but then she cuts you a little tasty piece whilst she finishes cooking. You know after that sliver that the wait will be worth it and that is exactly what the GT5 Demo shows us.

I think the quote 'All Good Things Come To Those Who Wait' springs to mind. The demo is worth a blast but Summer cannot come fast enough for me. After playing the demo, Gran Turismo 5 is shaping up to be one of two possible GOTY titles of 2010 for me
