GT5 Talk with Yamauchi

We're all familiar with how much of a perfectionist Kazunori Yamauchi is. (He's the guy who makes those awesome Gran Turismo games) but did you also know he was insane? There was a time where he was working for so long that he only went home for a total of 4 days in the entire year. A mere 96 hours. I spend more time playing video games than he spent at his home! Gamesey has more interesting tidbits. (I've edited the grammar a bit)
-Reason for Prologue is to test fans reaction. And work on perfecting the online mode
-GT5 is scheduled for Christmas 2008. Yamauchi san will delay it until everything is "perfect".
-All vehicles are redesigned from scratch. Car interiors are faithful to real life counterparts
-1 guy spends 6 months per car. 1 year per circuit. Currently 30 people working only on circuits.
-Driving a Ferrari in Suzuka in GT you will see the same thing as in real life. He wants to transmit this sensation to GT fans.
-He's most satisfied now with the new design of the interface, adapted to the online era.
-To the question "Is Gran Turismo 5 the best driving simulator and why?" he responds "For us, yes. To better illustrate it I'd say that Gran Turismo has its own soul. And that soul it's been reflected on its realism. Everything in it is real, the sound, the landscape, the cars..."
-They are testing car damage, but they have to reach a compromise. He put as example after the curve in Daytona, touching with the back of the car against the laterals can literally destroy the car, because it reaches a force of 150G! Yamauchi doesn't want to destroy cars like that, but he understands that fans want car damage, because it's part of reality. Some car makers don't mind car damage, others forbid it, so there will be cars with damage and cars without damage.
-Sony gives him total freedom, only restriction is launch date, but understand that he is perfectionist and won't go on sale until he is satisfied.
-He has wanted to make a RPG for a long time. (sounds like a good idea to me. Skip the PSP GT)
-Some Gamecube 1.5 talking about the Wii and Xbox360 not being a fullHD console since it doesn't have much games at 1080p 60fps. He would be frustrated working for Wii knowing there are more powerful machines like the PS3. (grafix whore)
-Currently working on Gran Turismo Portable (!). Will come after GT5 and will be a complementary, satellite game.
-After finishing GT5 they are going to keep working in the online for almost a year. (DLC?) No holidays. He hasn't taken a holiday off since starting Gran Turismo.
-He hasn't spent many nights at the office recently. But he remembers one year when he only went home for 4 days.
-He started the first Gran Turismo with only himself and a part time worker. Had a team of 15 people at the end. There are 120 people working in Polyphony right now.
-At the question of Microsoft offering him unrivaled conditions to make Gran Turismo for them he responded that the most he wants is freedom, and Sony gives him plenty. If someone gives him -more- freedom he wouldn't mind to change to Microsoft, Apple, whoever. He is after more quality and more freedom. (Sony, do not lose this guy)
-Something about Spain, spanish paella, how he cut his finger cooking. GT does well in other european countries, Spain too. But it could be better.
