Grand Theft Auto IV DLC Misses Release Date

While it's true that PS3 console owners will finally be getting their hands on the downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV, fans will have to wait a little bit longer. Rockstar Games has moved the release dates of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City and the two downloadable episodes Grand Theft Auto: The Lost & Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony to April 13 for North America and April 16 for all other countries. For those who have been paying attention, this means a delay of about 2 weeks. We received the bad news directly from Rockstar via email this afternoon.

What is the reason for the delay? According to a Take Two representative, the hold up has been caused by content issues in the European version of the game. Sony Europe has requested that the publisher make some minor content changes to the PAL PS3 version of the game, We wonder which territory made the complaint and which specific content was singled out for editing. We'll take your guesses in the comments below.

Rockstar had the following message for fans: 'Despite our best efforts to work through this quickly, the two weeks were needed to complete submission. We understand and sympathise with the fans that will be upset by this delay. We want to assure our fans that the minor changes made to the game will not affect the gamers enjoyment of the games, these will not affect any gameplay elements and were not related to any local ratings requirements.'

Personally we're not too miffed about the missed release date. It's been so long since GTA IV came out that it's barely on our radar anymore. Also, we probably need the additional 2 weeks to play through Final Fantasy XIII.

The Ballad of Gay Tony DLC contains the kind of GTA insanity that could be offensive to some viewers.
