Gamestop Only Place To Get Killzone 2 Demo For Americans

Let's see if we can get our heads around this one: First of all in the history of gaming there were exclusives, then timed exclusives, then exclusive DLC, then pre-order exclusives, and now we have region-specific timed pre-order exclusive demos. Thanks to an agreement between Gamestop and Sony Computer Entertainment of America, the only way to get your hands on an early demo of Killzone 2 will be to pre-order the game through the retailing chain. That is, if you live in North America. European gamers will evidently be able to get the demo normally, without having to pre-order the title. That means that gamers with a Euro PSN account may be able to grab the demo without having to pre-order

The American demo will be available to pre-order customers on February 3, almost a full month before the game officially ships to stores on February 27. After that time, anybody with a PS3 will be able to grab the demo through the PSN service free of charge.

Buzz for the upcoming first-person shooter is huge, so this agreement will undoubtedly generate heaps of cash for Gamestop. If it turns out to be a success for them, look for this type of deal to become more popular with big releases in the future.
