EA Will Publish Crysis 2 on PS3

Electronic Arts has announced a partnership with European developer Crytek to publish the sequel to its popular PC shooter, Crysis. The next installment of the graphically-intense first person shooter will be published simultaneously for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 systems. Undoubtedly, the PC version will be the technically superior of the three, but we are happy to see the game coming to consoles without the need for monsterous hardware specs. No release date for Crysis 2 has been given, but we anticipate that the game will arrive sometime in the spring of 2010.

Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek was also pleased that the game would be coming to consoles: "This is not only the next game in the Crysis franchise, it's the first title we are developing for consoles and the first title being built on CryENGINE 3. We are excited to have the support of EA Partners again as we work together to make the launch of Crysis 2 a huge event."

While the first game was impressive from a graphical standpoint, the story and gameplay were unremarkable and reminiscent of other generic shooters. Hopefully the team will add some more polish to those elements that make the sequel fun, instead of focusing solely on pushing the hardware as far as it can go.

Crysis was known for its lush foliage, sparkling water, and realistic physics.
