Dirt 3 racing towards worldwide release May 24

We're only days away from the release of DiRT 3, Codemasters latest rallying video game. In true 'sequel' tradition, developer, Codemasters are promising more cars, more events, locations and routes than any in any previous game in the long running series and double the track content of DiRT 2.

This DiRT 3 video (below) highlights the breadth of content in the latest release in the acclaimed series; showcasing Rally, Rallycross, Gymkhana, weather conditions (including snow), night racing and a number of stunning locations.

The series; a critically acclaimed and commercial success began way back in 1998 with Colin McRae Rally. While the previous two installments retained the late Colin McRae's name in the title, the rally champion's name has now been removed from the game.

Colin's name may no longer be on the box, but this is still a serious rally sim. Codemasters have promised an even greater emphasis on the rallying, and the game boasts WRC licensed content this time out.

That will be good news for the franchise fans who felt that DiRT and DiRT 2 had become too 'Americanised' and a little too 'extreme'. Those of you who were drawn to the brashness and the spectacle of the previous installments haven't been forgotten either, with the new gymkhana mode offering thrills and unique challenges not seen before.

With a roster of classic rally cars through the decades on show, a deep career mode and on-line multi-player, this is one not to miss when it drops next week on the 24th of May.
