Could Gran Turismo 5 Arrive in 2009?

The thrill from E3 has not yet worn off here at the GameFlavor offices. Sony seems to just keep fanning the flames of interest, intrigue and impatience around some of its key franchises. I mean, how bad is it waiting for God of War 3? After seeing the fresh gameplay ideas and mouthwateringly good visuals at E3, you kind of forget everything else the magnificent world of Sony has to offer.

Then there is another persitent rumor going around that Gran Turismo 5 could be hitting the shelves in late November 2009. Now call me fickle but from where I am standing it quite plain to see that Sony has a new person heading the company. Howard Stringer has taken a more aggressive and direct approach to positioning the PS3 in the marketplace. A 2009 release of GT 5 would be a perfect counter or other, high profile franchises coming this year (Forza 3, what?). Sony had a very impressive showing at E3 but I feel as though they are going to announce more: PS3 Slim, more exclusive titles. Pehaps we will see a triple whammy: coloured consoles, PS3 Slim and Gran Turismo this fall?

A November 2009 release for Gran Turismo 5 would be perfect and would coincide with the release of Gran Turismo PSP (a game many had long given up on seeing). Polyphony Digital have annouced several times that they are now at a stage where they are satisfied and could release the game at any time. Hopefully one area where they devote effort to improving the game is online Mutliplayer, because the Prologue online functions left a lot to be desired. If this game drops this year I can see it being the Game of the Year without a doubt and it would come for me precisely on time.

Only time will tell - but Polyphony if you are reading this please release this game before Christmas -- please please pretty please...
