CNet: Playstation 3 cost 'between $725 and $905'

According to a report, the actual cost of the components inside the Playstation 3 will be between $725 - $905. Despite these high costs, analysts still expect the PS3 to debut at a price competitive with Microsoft's Xbox 360, which is currently priced $299 to $399. Among the factors in the wide range of possible component prices is the Blu-Ray drive being used inside the PS3, and the Cell processor which will run the machine. The article also contains a brief statement from Merrill Lynch, who discloses that the research note that claimed a $900 component price for the PS3 was actually supposed to read $800.
