Castlevania and Contra Items Invade Playstation Home

After finally getting the memo that you can sell random virtual swag in Playstation Home for real money, publisher Konami decided to jump on that bandwagon. The Japanese company announced today that new virtual items from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Contra are now available for purchase in PlayStation Home. Konami also said that we should expect many more classic franchises to be pimped out for money in the coming months.

The items that are now available for purchase for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow are Gabriel Belmont's Brotherhood of Light Armor, Cyclone Boots, Combat Cross, and Dark Gauntlet. Presumably these arrive just in time for fans to get their avatars to look just like Gabriel as Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for Halloween.

For Contra, fans of the run-and-gun side-scrolling games can purchase some of the fabled series' most iconic items, including the blue and red bandanas worn by Lance Bean and Bill Rizer, as well as some matching camo pants and combat boots. Players can also complete the authentic Contra look and go with a shirtless physique option or the signature white tank and gun option as they prepare to punish alien scum (or just wander around aimlessly in Home).

If your ambition in life is not only to dress like a video game character, but live in their world as well, you'll be pleased. Konami will be producing living environments for purchase in the next few months that allow players to decorate their virtual homes like a gothic sanctuary or a jungle fortress.

It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.
