Call of Duty: Black Ops Redefines the Action Video Game

Readers will excuse the effusive hyperbole in the title, but CoD: Black Ops really is all that. Never since Metal Gear Solid on the original Playstation, has a video game brought together technological wizardry, narration, and enlightened gameplay like Black Ops. The game takes players on a historical tour through a raft of America's dirty, unseen wars. From the jungles of Vietnam to behind the iron curtain, the single player campaign is like a course on 20th century history, team taught by Noam Chomsky and Sylvester Stallone. And that's before we even get to the online multiplayer modes. The tagline in the video advertisement below is "The game of 2010". It's more likely, as with metal Gear Solid, that Black Ops will be seen as one of the standout games of the decade. The perfect justification for the current generation of hardware consoles, it's worth a look by anyone who loves video games.
