Bomberman Ultra Headed to PSN

Hudson today announced plans to bring their popular Bomberman franchise to the PS3 as a downloadable purchase. Bomberman Ultra is an all-new Bomberman title, which will be available for digital download on the Playstation Network later this winter. The game retains all of the classic elements and simple, addictive gameplay that have made it a hit at nerd parties since it was first released on the NES and Turbo Grafx 16 all those years ago. The most obvious difference is a graphics upgrade, which now displays the maze area from a 3/4 overhead 3D view.

Fans of the popular series will be able to compete with the best Bomberman players worldwide, as Bomberman Ultra delivers 8-player online multiplayer battles online in 14 new maps, as well as 4-player local multiplayer (our favorite way to play Bomberman). According to Husdon, players will also be able to customize their own Bomberman characters with more than 50 character costumes, resulting in more than 150,000 possible combinations. Utilizing the leaderboards, players can track their worldwide ranking to see just how they good they really are, and what they need to do to bomb their way to the top.

Hairstyles may have changed since 1987, but Bomberman's gameplay remains the same.
