Blu-Ray Wins the Format War
It seems like only a year ago video game journalists were proclaiming the death of both the PS3 and Blu-Ray. Well, actually, it was only a year ago.Now those same critics are hailing its praises or saying that the victory doesn't really mean much. (Why they made such a big deal out of it, I have no idea) While we knew Blu-Ray was going to win, it was only a matter of when it was going to win, not if. This week, it will be official.
The BBC and CNN have proclaimed Blu-Ray the victor. News media never lie, right? You gotta admit, when big news stations call you the winner, people take notice.
Toshiba is expected to announce the death of their precious Hi-Def player this week, while at the same time letting Paramount go.
Why should PS3 gamers care? Well, Ps3 sales are on the rise thanks to all the good news. (Netflix and Walmart are only going to support Blu-Ray from here on out) More Ps3s sold means more developers interested in working on the machine which gives us more games. In case you still don't own a PS3, there's more than enough deals being offered by major retailers to entice you into purchasing one.
