Battlefield Set To Be Unleashed As A Free PS3 Game

Prior to the launch of one of the biggest games of the year for EA, it was promised that a free PS3 game would be included to those who pre-ordered the blockbuster release. That promise is now going to be carried out due to a great deal of consumer and legal pressure.

When Battlefield 3 was gearing up for launch on the Sony PS3, EA came out and made a bold move to really amp up pre-orders.

Electronic Arts promised that gamers who pre-ordered Battlefield 3 would receive a free code to be able to get a free PS3 game, a downloadable version of Battlefield 1943.

EA caused a great deal of uproar among gamers though when they backed off of their promise a week before launch.

Instead of giving away a free PS3 game in Battlefield 1943, EA switched the offer without telling gamers.

Gamers were instead given a free week of early DLC access on the Sony PS3.

This caused many gamers to get quite angry with EA, and a class action lawsuit was also filed against the gaming giant.

EA has now agreed to the free PS3 game offer, as they posted on their EA Support page, "There have been some misunderstandings around Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield 3. To address this we are making Battlefield 1943 available free of charge to owners of Battlefield 3 on the PS3 beginning this month."

This shows that EA will indeed release Battlefield 1943 as a free PS3 game to owners of Battlefield 3 starting December 10th in North America.
