Atari Revives Ghostbusters Game

Does anyone remember Ghostbusters, the game that was ingloriously cancelled in the wake of the Activision/Vivendi merger? Well, Phil Harrison, the new CEO of Atari certainly does. He and his beleaguered publishing company have signed an agreement with developers Terminal Reality to bring Ghostbusters to all consoles in 2009. And when we say all consoles, we really mean that. Ghostbusters will be coming to the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms. A separate development team will be responsible for the PS2, Wii and DS version of the game, which will share the same storyline but none of the gameplay from the HD version. The game’s release will be times to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original film, which helped to catapult the careers of comedians Dan Akroyd and Bill Murray.

One of the promising things about Ghostbusters the game is that the developers have managed to reunite the original cast of the film to reclaim their roles in the game. Running around in the game world as a young Dan Akroyd should be worth the price of admission, at least.
