Scene It: Bright Lights! Big Screen! Review

It's the holidays and what better game to play with the whole family than Scene-It: Big Lights! Big Screen! The quiz show genre of games has really taken off this year, with games like Buzz! and One vs 100 captivating the minds of fans of all-ages across the world.
After hours of play, I didn't run into the same question twice because as advertised, there really are thousands of questions -- testing your movie trivia skills to the limit.
There's also an improved single player option, which offers short and long play. I was able to unlock trophies for answering questions fast, placing first, and just for being the all around movie buff that I am.

There are 12 avatars for players to choose. The girl avatar graphics are cute looking and the guy ones are cool too. I chose the Sci-Fi female cadet but there is also a female superhero to choose. Each avatar has his/her own sound effects, but they don't talk. Most of the talking is left up to the game host. If you get bored of him, you can even choose to turn him off -- a useful option for some people.

Obviously, this game screams party mode and it doesn't disappoint. I got family members to play along with me. Up to 4 players can join in and most of the trivia runs the range of movies from the 70s and today. There are a number of puzzle types (23 in total) so you definitely won't get bored with the way questions are presented: There are clips of movies, where you answer questions based on recognizing the movie; arrange movies chronologically according to release date; celebrity picture or name recognition minigames; pixel movie theater; and a number of other innovative puzzle types.

The game presentation is bright and colorful and the cartoon graphics are realistic enough not to be classified as a kiddy game like Buzz! The text is big and easy to read so you can sit comfortably away on the couch. Best of all you can use your Buzz controllers if you have some laying around for that ultimate quiz show type of feel. There's also a download section where you can purchase more questions in the future. There is no DLC ready as of this review, but will be up in the near future.

If you love movies, Scene-It: Big Lights! Big Screen! is definitely the ultimate quiz show game for you and your family to enjoy.
