Burnout Paradise Keeps It Fresh

road-t.jpg

Criterion, the makers of the hugely successful Burnout series, has announced the new "Cops and Robbers" track pack for Burnout Paradise. Criterion is doing downloadable content (DLC) right and may be the first major developer to do so. They have shown their game unprecedented support by releasing a steady stream of new content, even a year after its initial release. Criterion released free updates that added a day and night system, new online multiplayer modes, and even motorcycles to the stir up the gameplay.

The Party Pack made its debut at $9.99 on the marketplace this week and is the company's first premium DLC. It can be purchased as a game bundle on PSN for $29.99. Party Pack will be followed by the "Legendary Cars," "Toy Cars" and "Boost Specials" packs. In an industry that annualizes their games and pumps out tired sequels ad nauseum, Criterion is making a concerted effort in turning Burnout Paradise into a platform unto itself, releasing fresh innovative content. Way to go, guys.
