Thrustmaster Y-250P PS3 PC Headset

PS3 PC Headset Review
Manufacturer: Thrustmaster

Thrustmaster has become notorious with putting out some of the most high-quality headsets and other gaming accessories for the hardcore gamers out there. They have come out with a brand new series of headsets, the Thrustmaster Y-250 series. Today, we will be looking at the Thrustmaster Y-250P headset, which works for the Sony PS3 as well as for the PC.

Gaming headsets of high quality are not easy to come by, as there are a lot of headsets available, but very few that live up to their hype, price tag, and overall audio experience.

Thrustmaster has taken a clear cut approach with the Y-250P headset that we absolutely love, and that is to create a high-quality and well-built headset, without going overboard going for flash or anything like that. Simply put, these things sound phenomenal and are going to last you a lot time.

Starting out with the hard numbers, these headphones have 50mm high-end drivers with a 10Hz - 25Khz frequency response range. There is also an included bass amplifier, as well as a detachable microphone that is unidirectional.

Once you get the headset out of the box, you are going to immediately realize that these are some serious headphones, as they are pretty hefty in terms of their weight, speaking volumes to their build-quality. The headset comes with plenty of connections that are going to allow you to hook these up to your PS3, mobile gaming device, media device, PC via USB, and so on.

Hooking up to the supplied in-line volume controller though is where you are going to want to be once you hook these up to the Sony PS3.

Once you get the headset on, you are going to really feel like you are wearing a solid piece of hardware. These are very comfortable as the adjustable headband is going to allow you to get the headphones positioned so they fit firmly and comfortably on your head. Padding on the headband adds to the overall level of comfort as well.

The microphone is equally as convenient as you can attach or detach it at your will, and it does a great job of picking up your voice in any circumstance.

Now let's get to the good part, the audio quality. The audio quality of the Thrustmaster Y-250P is absolutely stellar for the money. There are headsets out there that cost far more than this one, but do not sound nearly as good.

I would put these up there with any of the other high-end headsets I have used over the years, and I can easily argue that these sound the best out of all of them. Playing something such as Call of Duty with this headset is quite an experience, as the bass is going to be rocking you and making you feel as though you are in the game. The added bass from the booster does a phenomenal job of adding deep bass while not harming the audio quality either, which is something that is not seen too often.

Once you have these headphones on, you are really going to find yourself immersed in your gaming experience. They do a great job of cancelling out all of the noise around you, and the way in which the headphones utilize the surround effect is just tremendous.

I cannot speak highly-enough in terms of just how good these headphones sound, and I challenge gamers out there to pick up these headphones and put them up against any of the competition.

What I really love about the Thrustmaster Y-250P is that the company has gone ahead and focused on making the most high-quality headset possible, without trying to go for too many style points. Is this the sexiest headset I have ever seen in my life, no. But the fact of the matter is that this is an extremely comfortable headset to wear and use for hours on end, and the audio quality that it pumps out for the price point is unmatched!
